After attending the counselling session at IDP and creating a short list institutions, you must submit an application for each institution with a completed set of certified academic transcripts. Certification is free for students using IDP services. The Australian academic year begins in either February or July. However, some courses are available throughout the year. Students are encouraged to apply at least 3 to 4 months in advance to provide sufficient time to process a student visa and facilitate better planning.

Do I need an IELTS or TOEFL score to apply to study in Australia?

Yes, you do. Students must attach an English language test transcript (IELTS or TOEFL) when applying to study in Australia. Without transcript of an English language test, you can still send your applications to the institution with other application documents and the institution will issue you a Conditional Offer if you meet their requirements. You will need to submit your English language test transcript once you have it. The institution will then convert the conditional offer into a formal offer However, the Australian Embassy only accepts IELTS scores for visa processing

Normally, diploma and foundation courses require an IELTS score of 5.5; undergraduate courses require Ian ELTS score 6.0; postgraduate courses require an IELTS score 6.5. Some courses may require an IELTS score of 7.0 or higher.

Are there dormitories on campuses? Can overseas students apply to stay on campus?

Almost all Australian universities have dormitories on campus. Those dormitories are normally open to students who commit for a long term stay. So it can be difficult to overseas students unless they are willing to commit. To get dormitories one must apply well in advance.
